Vampire Class
Vampire Origins
“I have spent almost 1000 years in my vampire life and that is why I could talk about this subject for days, even months, maybe… but do not worry, for this class I have chosen to talk about 3 main topics: 1) vampire origins 2) vampire bonds 3) vampire weaknesses.”
“Please, feel free to ask questions at the end of your lecture”.
“I would like to start with a question. And the question will not be ‘ what is a vampire ? ' as you all know the answer , don't you ? And also because I know that some of you would say ‘blood suckers’… and this would make me want to give you a lesson and drain your blood... It would spread havoc and I would lose my audience... ” looks around shaking my head “ So, my question will be : who was the first vampire?” looks at the audience waiting for an answer.
" Dracula " - someone will think. “ Vlad III, often called ‘ Vlad the Impaler ’ for impaling his enemies on a sharp pole. He was also known as ‘ Vlad Dracula ’ that means ‘ son of Dracul ’.
"Historically, the name "Dracula" is derived from a Chivalric order called the Order of the Dragon. His father, Vlad II was admitted to the Order of the Dragon around 1431 because of his bravery in fighting the Turks. This is how Vlad III ended up being called ' Dracula '.
" Dracula lived in the 15th century and I became a vampire in the 11th century… so, if you calculate fast... NO, Dracula was not the first vampire, he is just well known maybe because he killed around 100.000 people…
“ To know who the first vampire is, we need to go very much back in time. I have made researches and found out that tales of supernatural beings consuming the blood of the living, have been found in nearly every ancient culture around the world.”
“Today I have decided to talk about what seems to be the first vampire : Lilith. There are two versions of the story that I am going to tell you. I will start with the human version first…”
“There are un-Biblical legends that Adam had a wife before Eve who was named Lilith. She became Adam's first wife, who was created at the same time and from the same earth as Adam. This contrasts with Eve who was created from one of Adam's ribs. Lilith left Adam because she did not want to submit to him and then would not return to the Garden of Eden.
“Now… according to the Book of the Vampyr, that is a sort of Vampire Bible, Lilith was created by God in his own image : a vampire! She is considered as the “ Progenitor ”, the first vampire".
“She's believed by many vampires to have been created by God before Adam and Eve. Adam and Eve were created to sustain her. Lilith’s progeny would be sustained by Adam and Eve’s children : the human race. Beginning the natural order of humans existing to feed and service vampires”.
“According to the legend, Lilith eventually met the sun... what vampires call ‘ true death ’, at the hands of a man. However, a small amount of her blood remained. Lilith's other progenies gathered her remains in an earthen jar. The remains were transferred in a crystal vial that is now lost... or kept in a very secret and guarded place, as nobody seems to know where it is!”
“Lilith is worshiped as a god by many vampires. And yet, in some Vampyr Book’s version, we can read her words “God made me as vampire and Adam and Eve as human. I am worshiped as a god but there is no god but God."
“As I told you before, there are other legends about the first vampire, but I had no time today, to tell you about them all and this seemed to me quite relevant…”.

Vampire Bonds
" Every new vampire has a creator and their creator is called their " Liege ". The Sire Bond is the link between a vampire creator and their creation. The created comply with orders of their creators in order to show their loyalty.
The Sire Bond comes in many different forms and is referred to in different terms within the different types of vampires. Today, I will talk about two of the most common bonds :
"There is the Sire Bond formed out of attachment : when a human has feelings for a vampire and is then turned by that vampire's blood. This bond influences actions and a natural sense of loyalty. It is much like the loyalty one has towards family.
The maker and progeny can feel each others emotions. If the emotion is strong and sharp, like panic or danger, they'll feel it right away.
The sire can command the progeny to do something only if they truthfully desire it, if the desire is intense. When commands are activated, the progeny will be able to feel a subtle mental pull from the sire in their mind. Commands only work when the sire cares about the progeny and vice versa. If they are lovers, for instance, or if they care about each other like family/friends.
"The limitation of this kind of Bond is that it will not work if the feelings aren't mutual. Commands will not work if a Sire Bond is made without the sire holding feelings for the progeny. In any case, the progeny and sire will be connected somewhat telepathically via emotions and it will make it very useful if you are in danger and need help...
"There is also the " Blood Bond ", that is not made out of love between maker and progeny. In this case there will still be a very deep connection, a connection that no human will ever be able to truly understand. The maker can call their progeny whenever they like and the progeny will feel like a shiver all over their body..." stops talking and looks around with a teasing grin " It sounds quite sensual, doesn't it ? Makers can force their progeny to do anything they want by ending their command with the phrase ' As Your Maker, I Command You! '. Makers can also feel, thanks to their deep link with their progeny, when one of their vampires die or are in pain".
There are 3 possibilities to break the sire Bond :
1) The death of the maker.
2) Being released. In this case the maker must specifically say "As Your Maker, I release You' ".
3) Turning off humanity: if the Bond is done out of love, when the progeny switches off their humanity, the bond is automatically broken, as they will no longer feel any emotion".

Vampire Weaknesses
" A Liege has many responsibilities towards their progenies. And here we come to the third and last topic of the day. A liege must make sure that their progenies know about vampires weaknesses in order to be able to defend themselves :
- Sunlight : A skin of a vampire that comes in contact with direct sunlight will be severely burned, unless they have a talisman made by a powerful witch, which will protect them and avoid their death.
- Silver: Vampires heal quickly from most injuries but using silver will make it impossible for them to heal. Vampires, despite their strength, cannot break a chain of silver that will painfully burn their skin.
"The reason why sunlight and silver burn a vampire and cause its healing process to slow dramatically is because vampires are cursed by these two elements.
- Fire: it will burn vampires, just like it burns humans. While fire can burn just as well as sunlight or silver, it does nothing to slow the healing process of the vampire, because vampires are not cursed with a weakness to fire.
- Vervain, also called 'tears of Isis' in ancient Egypt and often associated with divine and supernatural forces. It is a potent herb: if a vampire has physical contact with vervain, it will burn them. If a vampire ingests vervain, they will become feverish and extremely weak. If a human ingests or holds vervain, the human will be protected by vampire compulsion
Pauses again to ask her last question "Do you know how to kill a vampire? And hopefully, if you do... it is to be pro-active in case one day you run into vampire who needs killing for some serious reason... There are a few ways :
- A wooden Stake : stab a vampire in the heart with any wooden stake.
- Tearing the vampire's head off will kill a vampire , unless they are protected by a witch who can eventually revive them. So I would suggest to burn the head and the body.
- A wolf's bite. Same as before, though, a witch can cure this wound with a strong and ancient spell.

Vampire Folklore Story
" A folkloric tale orally preserved, tells how it was discovered that verveine is harmful for vampires. The legend says that in the 11th century a young vampire fell in love with his maker, who could not care less about him. He tried hard with all his means to have her liege falling for him, but nothing seemed to work. A day, walking in a market, he met a witch and he suddenly had an idea: to force her preparing a love charm or he would kill her".
"The witch was young and inexperienced but she was so scared about the vampire's threat, that she did not have the courage to tell him how she had no idea of how to make love spells. The vampire gave her a one day deadline to prepare it.
"The young witch went into the woods to look for the ingredients but she had no idea about what to use, so she walked and walked, till she reached an unknown place where there were crystal plants and, right next to them, some small flowers with five petals, borne in dense spikes, with some shake of blue, white, pink and purple.
"She smiled relieved ' This is the right plant for a love charm' she thought. She did not know that she had entered the faeries' countship and she took 8 verveine flowers. She used 5 flowers to make the love charm that she poured into a golden cup that the vampire had given to her and she put the 3 others inside a pot, to make them grow and reproduce".
At night the vampire came and was very happy to find out that the potion was ready. That night it was her maker's birthday and her progeny had organized a huge party for her. He offered her the gold cup after kneeling before her and claiming his loyalty and eternal love. She drank, smiling happy for the sign of submission. As soon as she did, she fainted as if dead. The other progenies immediately ripped the vampire's head, thinking that he had intentionally killed her.
When the vampire lady started breathing again and woke up, her progeny realised what a huge mistake they had done killing their brother. They realized that they would have never known who had made that potion and what was there inside. The witch could make new plants from the flowers that she had kept and share her knowledge with the other witches.
And here it is how, from a wrong love charm, witches discovered a powerful weapons against vampires !
Ladies and Gentlemen, here we come to the end of this class. I hope that you found it interesting and that maybe it has even awakened in you the desire to know more about us vampires. Please, do not fall into any stereotype about us : remember that a vampire can be cruel, generous, brave, coward, gentle, sneaky and so many other things, just like any other creature. It does not depend on the race but on the personality.
